The PenFed Foundation is the latest recipient of a $1,000 donation from First Generation through the 12 Weeks of Christmas program. The PenFed Foundation is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization working to meet the needs of military personnel and their families in the areas of financial literacy, housing and support for the wounded. The organization strives to prevent medical emergencies from turning into financial hardships for our nation’s defenders.
PenFed offers a multitude of programs to ease financial burdens for our active military members, military veterans and their families:
The Asset Recovery Kit (ARK) program has helped over 1,000 military families with nearly $500,000 worth of emergency loans and financial counseling.
The Dream Makers program aids in providing a $5,000 grant to first-time homebuyers, reducing the financial hardships of down payment and closing costs.
The Military Heroes Fund offers emergency financial assistance and other aid to wounded military members who have served since 2001 in Iraq or Afghanistan.
The PenFed Foundation is currently tasked with raising $11 million in private donations to cover the cost of building the Lee & Penny Anderson Defenders Lodge, a $17 million public-private partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The lodge will serve as a free hotel for veterans undergoing medical care at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Palo Alto, California. An Open House for the Defenders Lodge is on Tuesday, October 8.
Besides this year’s donation from 12 Weeks of Christmas, First Generation developed a multi-faceted marketing campaign to assist the PenFed Foundation with fundraising efforts for the Lee & Penny Anderson Defenders Lodge. As part of the marketing campaign FG developed an updated logo and a tagline and call to action: They Fought For Our Future. Let’s Fight for Theirs. The Defenders Lodge, A Haven for our Heroes. The tactics included an iPad app for personal fundraising efforts, an email campaign, a direct mail campaign and a new website. The tactics allow for many touch points to generate awareness in support of their goal. For more details on the marketing campaign, visit our blog.
The PenFed Foundation helps the soldiers who protect our freedom, but they cannot do this without your support. To learn how you can support the efforts of the PenFed Foundation or the Lee & Penny Anderson Defenders Lodge project, please visit the links below.
